Mr. Md. Azharul Islam is a seasoned insurance professional with more than three decades of extensive experience and expertise in the non-life insurance sector of Bangladesh. He is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Agrani Insurance PLC., where he continues to provide dynamic leadership with a strong focus on business growth, operational excellence, customer service, and corporate governance. An MBA by qualification, Mr. Islam also completed his Master’s degree in Mass Communication & Journalism from the University of Dhaka. He began his professional career with the HIID/ESEPP Project under the Bangladesh Planning Commission before entering the insurance industry. Mr. Islam started his insurance career with United Insurance Company Ltd., one of the first-generation non-life insurance companies in Bangladesh, where he gained valuable experience in business development, underwriting, customer relationship management, and risk management. During his long professional journey, he received various training programs at home and abroad which enriched his expertise in modern insurance practices and business management. He joined Agrani Insurance PLC. in July 2003 as Senior Vice President in the Business Development Department and successfully served the company in different key capacities over the years. Through his professionalism, leadership qualities, and outstanding contribution to business development, he earned recognition as one of the leading insurance executives in the industry. He has also been awarded as the Best Producer of the company on multiple occasions for his remarkable business achievements. Under his leadership, Agrani Insurance PLC. has been emphasizing modernization, business expansion, service excellence, and technology-oriented operational development to meet the evolving demands of the insurance sector. Mr. Islam is also associated with various socio-cultural and educational organizations. He has traveled to several countries including the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, gaining valuable exposure to international business and multicultural environments.
